I hope everyone is enjoying this weekend! Cookouts, family get-togethers, an extra morning of sleeping in, if you so wish--we have many ways of celebrating Memorial Day. I hope everyone will take a moment to remember WHY we celebrate: those brave men and women who gave their lives in service to their country. Every year, I like to share this poem--it's one of my all-time favorites:
In Flanders Fields
By: Lieutenant Colonel John McCrae, MD (1872-1918)
Canadian Army
In Flanders Fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns
